11 weeks of pregnancy: What happens in the eleventh week of pregnancy?
All of the baby's organs are already formed and functional by the 11th week of pregnancy. All you have to do is increase in size. In order for these to be better protected, the child's skin also becomes thicker and a small layer of fat accumulates.
At the same time, the baby is practicing more and more control of its movements: it is now bending its little elbows and forming its tiny hands into fists. On the ultrasound your child looks like a little boxer, in a few weeks you will feel that too.
How big is my baby in the 11th week of pregnancy?
The child is now measuring from crown to rump 4 to 5 cm and thus corresponds to about the size of a fig. It now weighs 9 grams.
What happens to my body in the 11th week of pregnancy?
During the first trimester of pregnancy, women gain an average of 3 kilograms, even though they don't look really pregnant yet. If you experience morning sickness in the first few weeks, you may even lose weight. As a rule, the nausea decreases by the end of the 11th week of pregnancy, as the body has become accustomed to the new hormone status.
However, due to the hormonal change, the work of the intestines has changed and you may suffer from constipation, accompanied by symptoms such as flatulence or a general feeling of fullness. This is where exercise helps: go for regular walks, do small sports sessions and drink a lot of fennel tea.
Should I do additional prenatal diagnostics?
From the 11th week of pregnancy, there are various examinations for prenatal diagnostics available, especially for high-risk pregnant women or those with previous illnesses.
