How big is my baby in the 10th week of pregnancy?
By the tenth week of pregnancy, your baby will have reached the size of a strawberry, measuring 1.5-3 cm from crown to rump. It has also put on a lot of weight and now weighs around four grams.
What happens to my body at 10 weeks?
Just like the baby went through a growth spurt, your body will change too: the skin on your stomach, chest and thighs will be subjected to the first stress test.
The first stretch can cause stretch marks. These are small tears in the subcutaneous tissue. The underlying vessels shimmer through and make the stripes appear bluish to reddish. After the birth, the stretch marks fade but do not disappear completely.
Those little scars are a sign of strength and proof that your body has done great things. But if you don't like this thought and you want to prevent stretch marks, you should start with regular massages now at the latest. Use a fragrant oil or a body lotion that cares for your skin. There are also pregnancy brushes that you can use to stimulate blood circulation in your skin. Make sure, however, that the bristles are natural and not too hard.
What do I have to bear in mind during the plucking massage against stretch marks?
Another trick that can prevent stretch marks is the so-called plucking massage. Take small rolls of skin between your thumb and forefinger and gently pluck them upwards. Begin the plucking massage in the middle of the stomach and work your way to the outside of the stomach and the rib cage. You should avoid the area above the pubic bone, as the plucking massage could encourage the uterus to contract.
Make sure that you are really plucking gently. The blood circulation should be stimulated, but it must not be painful. Four weeks before the due date you should stop the plucking massage and just oil your stomach.
